Settings

Every Order Block Scope setting with its default, group by group, in the order of the settings window.

The groups below follow the order of the Order Block Scope settings window. Defaults are the values of a new chart. Hover a setting in NinjaTrader to see its tooltip.

Parameters

  • Swing strength (bars each side): default 3 (1 to 20). How many bars on each side of a swing high or low, as in NinjaTrader's Swing indicator.
  • BOS/CHoCH lookback (bars): default 20 (1 to 200). How many bars back a structure break may be and still count for a new fair value gap.
  • Min order block size (ticks): default 1 (1 to 100). The smallest order block, measured from the high to the low of its bar.
  • Max order block size (ATR): default 0, no limit (0 to 50). The tallest order block, from the high to the low of its bar, in ATR(14) at the bar where the block is found. A taller zone makes no order block, so it gives no retest signals or alerts either.

Fair value gaps

  • Show fair value gaps: on. Draws the fair value gaps.
  • Show gaps smaller than Min gap size: on, every gap is drawn. Off draws only the gaps of at least Min gap size, the ones that can make an order block.
  • Show only gaps that made an order block: off. On draws only the fair value gaps that made an order block.
  • Min gap size (ticks): default 1 (1 to 10). The smallest fair value gap that can make an order block.
  • Middle candle has the largest body: on. Of the three gap candles, the middle one must have the largest body.
  • All 3 candles same direction: on. All three gap candles must close the same way, all up or all down.
  • Bullish gap color, Bearish gap color: set by the color theme.
  • Gap opacity (%): 30. 0 is invisible, 100 is solid.

Market structure

  • Show BOS and CHoCH: on. Draws the structure break lines and their labels. A break of structure (BOS) goes with the trend. A change of character (CHoCH) goes against it. Off hides only these lines and labels: the order blocks, the retest arrows and the alerts stay.
  • Show swing highs and lows: off. Draws a dot on each swing high and low.
  • Bullish BOS line, Bearish BOS line, Bullish CHoCH line, Bearish CHoCH line: dashed, 2 px. Their colors come from the color theme.
  • BOS/CHoCH label font: NinjaTrader's default font, size 10, bold.
  • Show overlapping labels: off. A BOS, CHoCH or retest arrow label that would sit on a label already drawn is left out; the lines and arrows stay. BOS and CHoCH labels go first, then retest labels, the newest first. On draws every label.

Retest signals

  • Show retest arrows: on. Draws an arrow when price comes back into an active order block.
  • Retest arrow label: Break. The text next to each retest arrow. Break shows the structure break that made the order block (BOS or CHoCH). Retest shows the word Retest. None shows no text.
  • Max retests per block: default 2 (0 to 100). How many retest signals one order block gets. After the last one the block fades. 0 means no limit.
  • Min bars between retests: default 30 (0 to 50). How many bars must pass between two retest signals of the same block. 0 means no minimum.

Each retest also sets a plot for strategies: BullishRetest or BearishRetest.

Appearance

  • Color theme: Wizdough on a new chart. Classic has the original colors. Wizdough has our brand colors, chosen to be safe for color blind traders. Cyberpunk is neon, for dark charts. A color you set by hand stays when you switch themes.
  • Bullish order block color, Bearish order block color: set by the color theme. In the Wizdough theme, bullish blocks are teal and bearish blocks are red, bullish gaps are blue and bearish gaps are orchid.
  • Active block opacity (%): 50. 0 is invisible, 100 is solid.
  • Active order blocks to show (per side): default 0, all (0 to 100). How many of the newest active order blocks the chart draws on each side, bullish and bearish. Hidden blocks still give retest signals, plot values and alerts.
  • Show older active blocks faded: off. On draws the older active blocks faded, at the mitigated or broken block opacity, instead of hiding them.
  • Show block outline: off. On draws a 1 px outline in the block color around each order block. Off draws the fill only.
  • Show mitigated or broken blocks: on. Draws the order blocks that ended: broken (a bar closed through it) or mitigated (after its last retest).
  • Mitigated or broken blocks to show (per side): default 0, all (0 to 100). How many of the blocks that ended last the chart draws on each side.
  • Mitigated or broken block look: Faded. Faded fills the block at the opacity below. Outline draws no fill, with a dashed outline when the block is broken and a solid one when it is mitigated.
  • Mitigated or broken block opacity (%): 30. Used for a block after a bar closes through it, or after its last retest, and for older active blocks shown faded.
  • Arrow size (px): 20.
  • Arrow offset (px): 30. The distance of the retest arrow from the bar.
  • Arrow label font: NinjaTrader's default font, size 12, bold. The text next to the retest arrows (BOS, CHoCH or Retest) uses this font.

The Classic theme colors are green and red for the order blocks, cadet blue and violet for the fair value gaps, lime green and tomato for the BOS lines, and cornflower blue and orange for the CHoCH lines.

Signals

  • Play sound on retest: off. On a live chart every retest already goes to the NinjaTrader Alerts window with the alert sound. Turn this on to play the sound once more.
  • Alert sound: Alert1.wav. A file name in NinjaTrader's sounds folder, or a full path.

Alerts and sounds come only on live bars, never for the history of a chart.
